The April 2025 evaluations are out: new bulls as well as sexed semen are available — rolling base adjustment, new traits

Our new order just came in and all bulls including sexed semen are available. Due to the spring rush and our shipping capabilities, there is an $800 minimum purchase until July ($400 thereafter).  Advanced payment is required. The April 2025 run is the time of the year when France (and the rest of Europe) adjusts the base against which all indexes are calculated. As genetics progresses, the production of each generation increases, and therefore the differential with the bulls’ indexes decreases. The USA adjusts its base every five years, and this year is the year. For more details on the rolling base adjustment, please check this page.  The 2025 changes are 200 lbs. for milk,  8 lbs. of protein,  10 lbs. of fat, .009 for protein %, .012 for fat %, and 6.5 for ISU (French Normande TPI). A bull whose milk index decreases by 200 lbs is actually stable. A quick look at our line up points out to an overall stability of our lineup and also a few shining stars: Pele, Paluel, Oroi and Niville all bring new daughters as well as good numbers when it comes to milk. 

Our senior bulls are barely adding new daughters to their numbers but they remain the sure values that they’ve always been. Since we’ll not get more semen from them, this is their last hurrah: Lamier, our shortest bull, goes up in milk after factoring in the rolling base adjustment. He also remains our best easy calving bull.  Landel brings a unique combination of production, functionality and calving ease, a rare occurrence and a sure value. Licorice, a components bull, maintains his excellent P and F %, even increasing these values, while Maanonu asserts his extraordinary dairy performance with more daughters and still a great udder. Nintendo shows a good protein/ration that’s favorable for cheese making with good milk and great feet & legs while Niville has the best combination of beef value, udder type & quality and functionals and boosts his milk this time. His new daughters keep bringing better numbers for him. He seems to be like these good wines that get even better with age. Nestar, a son of super star Jesse, is channeling his sire by maintaining his amazing milk number along with dual-purpose (small stature, great body depth) and functional qualities (one of our best somatic cell count), a rare combination. He does exceptionally well, again, in this cycle, and across the board, while getting more daughters. Olympe (A2A2, BB Kappa Casein, great feet & legs) and Ocasse (A2A2, AB Kappa Casein) still show the highest fat % we’ve ever carried: .59 and .70 respectively. It’s cream that’s coming out. They’re also two medium size dual-purpose bulls with good milk and functionals. Note Ocasse‘s great body depth. Oroi has been a best seller in France with a production that keeps going up with new daughters along with great dual purpose qualities, good legs, good udder. Paris brings great beef value along with excellent production credentials. Being BB Kappa Casein, high protein % and lower fat %, he’s a good choice for cheesemakers. Password combines good milk with components as well as good functionals especially udder health and longevity.  Note the great numbers of Pelé, whose  milk keeps going up while maintaining amazing %P and %F, along with great body depth and fantastic feet & legs. Pilier, one of our best sellers, is back with his incredible good numbers all across the board. Portsall remains one of the best for cheesemaking thanks to his very favorable protein/fat ratio and it does not hurt that he brings a good udder along. We’re pleased to bring back long time favorite Reflexion, a beautiful bull with great body depth, small size, excellent feet & legs and one our highest protein + fat number. Riddick carries a great milk/components balance with our best feet & legs and fertility indexes. Seagal is another BB Kappa Casein option with very good milk, positive fat %, and protein %, great udder depth and good beef. His semen is available sexed.
